Originally The Dale Schnackel Company, Schnackel Engineers was established in 1968 when Dale Schnackel left the Leo A. Daly Company to form his own firm. Under his astute guidance, it prospered for more than 30 years as an innovatively aggressive company, growing from a single engineer to a staff of 70 engineers, technicians and support staff by 1999. In the mid 80s, the company added the name of Consulting Engineers of Omaha, or CEO, as a bridge to the legacy of the company, one that was assumed by Dale’s son Greg, who began working for the firm in 1976.
Early on, the company took on 19 projects annually in nearly every type of design, including institutional, commercial, industrial, residential and governmental building, continually pushing to expand its expertise. Over the years, annual project experience has increased to over 1,100 annually, with a total project involvement of over 10,000 jobs encompassing a broad range of project types.
In 1985, the company began to grow beyond its Midwestern roots, asserting itself on a national scale. Projects that included retail mall design, retail rollout, hospitality, mixed-use facilities, high-rises and more, established a need to grow the company from a single office in Omaha, with a great Midwestern work ethic, to include offices in Los Angeles (Pasadena) and New York with the same core values and expertise.
With the expansion of our locations, our services and our name, it became clear that we had to refocus our identity to reflect the nationally recognized company that we had become.
Which brings us to now… and to Schnackel Engineers. While the corporate name and logo have changed, the “Who” we are and “What” we stand for has not. We were in 1968, and remain today, a team of expert engineers committed to every step of every job for each and every client. Schnackel Engineers currently employs a staff of over 70 engineers, technicians and support staff.
