Our Story

Originally The Dale Schnackel Company, Schnackel Engineers was established in 1968 when Dale Schnackel left the Leo A. Daly Company to form his own firm. Under his astute guidance, it prospered for more than 30 years as an innovatively aggressive company, growing from a single engineer to a staff of 80 engineers, technicians and support staff by 1999. In the mid 80s, the company added the name of Consulting Engineers of Omaha, as a bridge to the legacy of the company, one that was assumed by Dale’s son Greg, who began working for the firm in 1976.

Initially, the company took on just 19 projects annually in nearly every type of design, including institutional, commercial, industrial, residential, medical and governmental buildings, continually pushing to expand its expertise. Over the years, project experience has increased to over 1,300 annually, with a total resume of over 20,000 projects encompassing a vast range of project types.

In 1985, the company began to grow beyond its Midwestern roots, asserting itself on a national scale. Projects that included retail mall design, retail rollout, hospitality, mixed-use facilities, high-rises and more, establishing a need to grow the company from a single office in Omaha, with a great Midwestern work ethic, to include offices in New York, Miami, Los Angeles (Pasadena), Seattle and Honolulu with the same core values and expertise.

Which brings us to today… and to Schnackel Engineers. While the corporate name and logo have evolved, the “Who” we are and “What” we stand for has not. We were in 1968, and remain today, a team of expert engineers committed to the exacting execution of every step, of every project, for each and every client.
